The Artist

I did this guy after the social studies exam when I didn't feel like studying. I drew him using a tablet on Photoshop, and added the little name label down by his leg as well.

Maybe you're wondering why he's left-handed? I'd like to say the reason was because left-handed people are supposed to be geniuses or something, but it's only because it was easier to draw it that way. Anyway, he can be interpreted as anything: writer, musician, painter or whatever because his paper is left blank. (also because I couldn't decide what to put on the paper )

I really enjoyed doing this piece, because the shading is quite fun and the results are quite satisfactory. Because I'm not very experienced with a tablet, the lines turned out sketchy but it looks better that way anyhow. The very fact that I'm not used to using a tablet added a little bit of excitement because you never know how's it's really going to turn out. The shading was partially influenced by , because he gave me a few useful tips on it, and also Shel Silverstein, whose illustrations and poems I really enjoy.

I know his left arm looks a little awkward, I had a little problem with the anatomy but he doesn't look too disfigured. His head might be a tad big, at that. I really love the way his face came out, especially since that's how everything began. I just wanted to draw a face because I suck with anatomy but anyway I couldn't resist drawing the whole thing. It just came naturally and so I'm very happy with the outcome. Ok you must be bored of my rambling right now. Sorry, I'm just so damn pleased with it, because I've never tried anything like this before.
